In February 2024, Poland's construction market exhibited significant activity, with a notable increase in both home loan applications and the commencement of new apartment constructions. The data reveals a 40.1% year-over-year increase in potential borrowers applying for home loans, with 26.66 thousand applicants in February 2024 compared to 19.02 thousand in February 2023. Despite a month-to-month decrease of 18.1% in mortgage applications, the figures indicate a robust demand in the housing loan sector. Additionally, the average value of home loans sought in February 2024 experienced an 18.8% rise from the previous year, reaching EUR 99.17 thousand.
This demand surge, however, has moderated following the conclusion of the 2% Safe Mortgage Program application period. Current levels, while lower than the latter half of 2023, still reflect a significant 30-40% increase compared to the figures preceding July 2023.
Moreover, the construction sector is witnessing a remarkable uptick in new developments, with the initiation of 25,551 apartment constructions in February 2024 alone. This represents a staggering 90% increase compared to the same month in the previous year and a 30.7% rise from January 2024, signaling a vibrant and expanding construction market in Poland.
