MR DIY, a leading Malaysian retail chain specializing in home improvement and lifestyle products, is making its foray into the Polish market by securing nearly 5,000 sq m of space at the Hillwood Zgierz I logistics park. This move marks the establishment of MR DIY's inaugural logistics center in Central Europe, laying the groundwork for its ambitious expansion into Central and Eastern European markets.
Boasting a robust presence with over 3,500 outlets across 12 countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, India, Turkey, Spain, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, MR DIY offers an extensive range of over 20,000 items spanning home equipment, interior decorations, electricals, stationery, sports gear, and more. The strategic opening of the Zgierz logistics hub signifies the first step in MR DIY’s comprehensive strategy to penetrate the Central and Eastern European retail landscapes.
Located in Dąbrówka Wielka near the A2 motorway, the Hillwood Zgierz I logistics and warehouse park is an advanced facility covering over 70,000 sq m. It boasts modern construction standards and an environmentally friendly design, earning a BREEAM Excellent certification. "We are thrilled to select Hillwood Zgierz I as our pioneering logistics base in Poland. Its prime location perfectly supports our operational requirements, allowing for the swift and efficient distribution of our competitively priced products nationwide, and offers solid prospects for future growth," commented a MR DIY spokesperson.
"This deal confirms that our offerings meet the stringent demands for contemporary warehouse and office spaces. We're proud to facilitate MR DIY’s endeavors. I'm confident that our client will replicate its Asian market success in Poland," Wojciech Dachniewski, Leasing Director at Hillwood Polska, stated.
"In securing this deal, our top priority was locating a distribution space in a central area with quick expressway or motorway access. The client also preferred a building that was either ready to occupy or in the final construction stages. Central Poland’s logistical benefits most closely matched these criteria, and the tenant is poised to commence operations soon," noted Hubert Wojtera, Director at the Industrial and Logistics Agency, AXI IMMO.
