High performance and efficient milling technologies are the backbone of the modern model, mould and tool making industries. They are decisive for the success and profitability of the whole workflow in this area. The peculiarity of the problem to be solved lies in the need to reconcile apparently opposing demands.
Over many years, Zimmermann-Bokö has developed concepts which represent an optimal symbiosis between these demands, which the automobile and aerospace industries and their partners – with their high quality standards – have come to depend on.
The portal design is the leading technology for machining of high volume components in tool, mould and model shops.
We have specialized consistently on this technology and enlarged our market position continually. Zimmermann portal milling machines are operated worldwide in different fields of application in the automotive and aircraft industry, as well as in tool, mould and model shops.
Our success is based on the trust of our customers and the creativity and motivation of our employees. Customers and employees have achieved this outstanding success through a clear concept: Loyalty and trust, mutual appreciation and respect as well as initiative and responsibility is the basis for every decision we make. We concentrate our resources on product design, development and improvement of the quality. Thereby we would like to make contribution to the success of our customers.
Customer focused The customer is at the centre of all our reflections and actions. During the continuous dialog with our customers we work on new concepts and technical solutions. Thereby we set value on specific, individual solutions. According to the motto: he who listens well knows, what is needed.
Engineers with heart and soul Creative and ready to accept the challenge of technical risk, our engineers strive to achieve excellence and innovation. But that’s what you would expect from people who love their profession.
The result is a modern programme of portal milling machines, which can be offered at an attractive price. Individual, customer-specific solutions are our strong point.
Dependable service Reliable technology is what you expect. But if anything ever does go wrong, then we’re there when you need us. Quickly and dependable.
An important part in the sales process is always the easy maintenance design and highquality service. For both we stand. Take us at our word!
| High-Performance Milling Technology – the Way to the Portal Portal: an arch like structure of fixed or movable construction”
(General definition of portal)
Portal design – why?
One explanation for the advantages of the portal structure is to be found in the application of the basic principles of mechanics: through fixed sides, only the portal is moved with the Z-slide and the milling head. |
| Maximum Work Ranges for Large Workpieces With the FZ 25, Zimmermann extends the wide range of highly specialised 5-axis portal milling machines for simultaneous HSC machining.
They are ideally suited for dry machining of very large workpieces, with the main focus on light composite materials such as carbon and glass fibre reinforced plastics, ureol, polyurethane, polystyrene, etc. |
| Up-to-date machine for highly dynamic complete machining of prototype materials.
The perfect connection between dynamic performance and precision. All-round and highest flexibility for highly dynamic finishing of cast iron and steel as well as for high-speed full machining of typical prototype materials such as aluminium and kirksite.
Advantages:
- Excellent price-performance ratio
- Very wide area of application
- High quality universal head for simultaneous machining

| VH1 – Perfectly Simple How light can a milling head be? That depends on the application! This extremely light milling head was developed especially for the FZ 25 and FZ 15 portal milling machines.
Less is more
The idea behind the development of the ultra light portal milling machines is quite simple: Why use very heavy and massive portal milling machines to machine lightweight materials like polyurethane? It makes no sense at all. Also the accuracy required for the typical applications of these machines is less than what would be technically possible. This is exactly the philosophy behind the VH 1 milling head. It is a true minimalist! | |
