Cutting Tools
Cutting Tools
Since June 1, 2004, the previously separate businesses of IMS Gear Cutting Tools GmbH and KOEPFER Verzahnungswerkzeuge GmbH have been combined. With the formation of IMS KOEPFER Cutting Tools GmbH, a new and stronger speciality company was created for the development and manufacture of the high-precision tools. The advantages of the bundling of know-how, experiences and capacities built up for decades are obvious: IMS KOEPFER Cutting Tools GmbH acts even more flexible and more innovative on the global market. Consequently the new business is more than the sum of both parts, it is in a clearly stronger market position and competitiveness -best prerequisites for sustainable growth and international presence
Gear Hobbing Machine 160
The Model 160 hobbing machine combines current technological developments and an innovative design resulting from generations of Koepfer gear cutting experience. With eight axis of CNC-control the Model 160 gear hobbing machine opens new possibilities for true high-speed machining of gears. The machine is based upon the proven KOEPFER design concept of symmetrical distribution of cutting forces without any cantilever effects on the guideways.
Gear Hobbing Machine 180
The completely enclosed hobbing machine Model 180 is the continued development of the successful, conventionally controlled hobbing machine Models 153 and 173. For the fully automatic hobbing of a variety of different workpieces, also in small and medium quantities, the adjustable parallel magazine loading system provides a flexible solution. Highest reliability as well as low space required are essential features of this well accepted SPS or 2 axis CNC gear hobbing machine from KOPEFER
Gear Hobbing Machine 200
The Model 200 hobbing machine combines current technology with maximum versatility and flexibility. The eight axes of CNC control on the Model 200 allow all possible gear cutting applications to be accomplished. No matter whether the workpieces are loaded manually or with flexible automation systems, the Model 200 hobbing machine is the answer to the increased variety of products. Part diversity, decreasing lot sizes, and a demand for "just in time" manufacturing makes the Model 200 the correct choice for your gear manufacturing needs. The machine bed is a composite epoxy material that provides the highest static, dynamic, and thermal stability. A closed box machine design prevents deflection of the tailstock due to high clamping pressures and cutting forces. The unique KOEPFER design concept of symmetrical distribution of cutting forces ensures a long machine life with consistent part quality. The basis of the KOEPFER automation is the gantry loader with V-claw. Different kinds of blank and component magazines for the different part-spectra are available.
Gears & Gear Boxes
Today about 330 employees at KOEPFER Zahnrad- und Getriebetechnik GmbH are working on the manufacture of gears and gear boxes. High-quality gears and gear boxes are produced primarily for the automotive, the automotive supply industry, as well as for gearbox manufacturers. KOEPFER Zahnrad- und Getriebetechnik GmbH today designs and develops gears and gear boxes made of metal or plastics (spur gears, worm wheels, worms, internal gears) as well as gears with special tooth profiles (sprockets, splines, ratchets, belt drives). The design of complete gear boxes can be made either to customer drawings or designed by us for a customer application. Equipped with the most modern machinery KOEPFER Zahnrad- und Getriebetechnik GmbH is in a position to offer a technical solution according to our customer requirements. All different processes to manufacture gears (hobbing, rolling, shaping, shaving, grinding, honing) are used. The injection moulding department is specialized to design and manufacture high accuracy plastic gears

KOCH Carton formers
The KOCH carton formers are employed for production of a huge number of varying boxes by application of a stamped carton blank made of solid fibre board or corrugated cardboard. The carton blank is picked out of a magazine by vacuum suckers. Afterwards the carton blank is placed into guide rails. Horizontal, oblique or pallet magazines are available depending on demand. Individual tracks or dots of hot glue are applied on the glued joints during feed via forming tool. After reaching the stopper the carton blank is pressed through the forming tool by a forming tappet, moulded in and glued together. The finished boxes are transported out of the machine via outfeed conveyor belt rising laterally or frontally out of the machine. The glue tracks are controlled via machine control. The adjustments for different formats can be entered directly on the user interface. Furthermore it is possible to employ crimp tools to form the carton blanks without using hot glue. Advantages of this machine technology Different sizes and performance ranges allow the optimal selection of a carton former depending on particular demand. Change of forming tools is not required, because the tools are equipped with adjustable spindles. Only the forming tappet must be changed. Quick format change Drives via servomotor, resulting in easy adjusting on the control monitor and format optimized motions. State-of-the-art control technology via industrial PC with convenient operator guidance via touch screen. Optionally Siemens S7. Telephone connection for remote diagnosis
KOCH Group packer SP
The KOCH group packer SP was developed to process carton sleeves (type series Fefco 020..) The sleeves are supplied via horizontal magazine and given directly to the sequential control by the carton picking device The products are taken over customized, placed and pre-arranged in groups. The products are pushed in laterally, optionally on the left or right side. Suitable inserting aids ensure a safe and product-friendly inserting of products. The carton can be closed both with hot glue or with adhesive tape. The finished cartons leave the group packer via outfeed conveyor belt. Advantages of this machine technology High operating convenience by optimal accessibility Quick format change without tool change High flexibility by arrangement of individual functional assemblies State-of-the-art control technology by industrial PC with convenient operator guidance via touch screen Modem connection for remote diagnosis

Auxiliary machines
As supplement to the different machines we can supply all necessary accessories and auxiliary machines for completion of production lines mechanical wire cleaning systems wire pay- off devices for wire rods resp. pre- drawn wires wire pointing/milling machines, butt welding machines breaking and bending descalers cold rolling devices/cassettes spools of rigid or collapsible design testing instruments
Coilers / Spoolers
Coilers and spoolers which are destined for taking up wire are placed behind the wire processing lines. The wire is coiled up on rigid or collapsible spools, resp. deposited on baskets. The speeds are automatically adjusted to the machines placed in front.
Reinforced concrete lines
Wire rod is used as inlet wire for the manufacture of "reinforcement wires". By cold drawing ordinary steel is transformed into high-quality steel with an increased tensile strength. The wire surface can be provided, at the same time, with a ribbing for better adhesion in the concrete. The values of the tensile strengths or of the wire ribbing have to meet in most cases the legal prescriptions or standards of the building industry. These values are depending on e. g. total areal reduction of the wire rod up to the finished product as well as on chemical analysis of inlet wire material.
Single- block wire drawing machines
Single- block wire drawing machines can be supplied in various model sizes and either with single draft or with double draft. According to purpose of utilization they are equipped with finishing capstans or with pre- drawing capstans.
