KASRO cameras
The KASRO cameras can be adapted to fit different working devices: the miniature pan-head color camera fits on the working robot and the rotary module. The miniature pan-head color camera light and the rotational pan-head camera light are for the light models of the working robots, and the rotational pan-head camera is designed for the self-propelled units. All cameras are equipped with a 1/3" CCD board and a commercially available lighting system of twice 12V/ 20W. They have long- and short-range focusing and the head can swivel by 340°. Rotational motion - apart from the rotational pan-head camera - is provided by the rotational drive of the working robot. The cameras are equipped with connectors and can be exchanged without problem.
KASRO mobile control stand
With the combination of KASRO mobile control stand and KASRO mobile cable drum all KASRO working robots and the KASRO connecting reconstruction system can be controlled and operated. The mobile control stand is the compact version of the KASRO control unit installed in the vehicle. The standard combination cable with a diameter of approximately 40 mm and a length of 100 m is wound up on the mobile cable drum. Components such as pneumatic control and water pump are integrated in this drum. The advantage of this combination is that this “mobile unit” can be integrated everywhere and that it features all necessary functions of a KASRO control unit and drum. The KASRO mobile cable drum can also be designed as a mobile version and can thus – like the KASRO mobile control unit - be transported to places which are difficult to access, such as in factory buildings.
KASRO self-propelled unit
The KASRO self-propelled unit is equipped with a pneumatic cross-bar pressure system. The bars of this system hold the wheels and prevent them from slipping in damaged locations such as lateral duct connections. All the wheels on the self-propelled unit are equipped with their own drive so that obstacles can be driven over without problem. Although the weight of the unit is so low, a strong propulsive thrust is achieved by the gentle force exercised by the pneumatic pressure. For larger duct diameters, gear units with larger gear wheels are mounted onto the unit. The ensuing transmission reduction has the advantage of keeping the speed constant. As a result, the additional load does not affect the basic module.. The self-propelled unit can propel all the other working units: the working robot, the sealing systems and the camera.
KASRO single control unit
With the combination of KASRO single control unit and KASRO single drum all KASRO working robots can be controlled and operated. Unlike with “normal” control, here only the working robots are supplied and the connecting reconstruction systems cannot be activated. The single drum is equipped with two parallel cables, which are reeled up synchronously. One of the cables comprises circuit lines, control air lines and a tension braid, whereas the other cable is the supply line for the compressed-air multi-disc motor of the working robots. With this combination of drum and control unit the light KASRO working robot that can be passed around pipe elbows can be ideally operated since these cables can also be passed around an elbow without jamming. Even all other working robots can easily be connected and drive up to 80 m. Both the drum and the control unit are portable and can thus be positioned even in inaccessible places.
KASRO working robot
The KASRO working robot can be employed in the aforementioned nominal widths in three degrees of freedom: rotation, back and forth, lowering and tilting of the working head. All three motions can be carried out simultaneously in a speed-controlled manner, allowing three-dimensional operation. The working robot is automotive. A DC gear motor drives both axes. The robot drives, supported by its own weight, into the pipe line requiring renovation. In order to improve the stability of the working robot during milling it is possible to clamp it additionally with a compressed air buffer. By mounting various carriages the robot can be adjusted to different nominal widths (up to DN400). Using optional parts that are not included in the scope of delivery it is possible to build up to a nominal width of DN600. The working robot is supplied and controlled by a combination of “single drum” and single control unit.
The KASRO injection sealing systems
The KASRO injection sealing systems make it possible to seal lateral duct connections with nominal widths of DN100 to DN200. The flexibility of the balloon allows injection of the widest range of geometric shapes and sizes. The injection system is positioned using the self-propelled unit, the rotary module and the camera. By means of compressed air cylinders, the system is braced inside the walls of the main duct. The balloon is then inserted into the lateral duct and inflated. Following this, the sealant is injected and the electrical heating systems in both the balloon and plate accelerate the hardening of the injected sealant. The injection of the sealant directly from the container onto the damaged part makes it possible to carry out controlled repairs in low-pressure zones. This means that ground water leakage into lateral ducts can now be repaired. The injection system blocks the lateral duct opening for a brief time only, thereby ensuring that there are no negative effects on the occupied duct area.

BLUETEC® light curing technology
The new BLUETEC® curing technology excels with even faster curing rates and a further improved serviceability. The advanced curing technology makes the installation of light-curing pipe liners even faster and more cost-effective. With its proprietary UVA light-curing system, Brandenburger set the market standard for quality control and quality assurance in pipe-liner curing in the 1990s. Core components of this system have now been improved, while retaining the comprehensive quality control capabilities: Even more powerful UVA halide lamps, a new control system and advanced UVA light sources speed up the curing process. With the new BLUETEC® technology, the UVA lamps in the light sources may be operated individually at varying power levels from 400 to 1000 Watts, depending on the sewer profile. It is now possible to select the optimum curing rate for the specific rehabilitation project, taking into account the diameter and the wall thickness of the pipe liner as well as the sewer profile (round, oval, special). The BLUETEC® technology enables light-curing rates up to 180 metres per hour (with DN 150). The BLUETEC® curing is easy to operate and, in most cases, easy to repair on site. Expensive and elaborate control electronics have been replaced by simpler systems. This offers a number of key benefits for rehabilitation projects worldwide. The BLUETEC® technology relies on a patented method of quality and curing control by measuring the temperature of the exothermic curing reaction. In addition, the entire light-curing process is monitored and documented online. Key parameters are recorded: UVA lamp ignition times, number and power level of lit lamps, starting and finishing times, liner-internal air pressure, curing rate, temperature readings for the exothermic curing reaction, and the path travelled. Upon completion of the rehabilitation project, the client receives a complete machine-generated documentation of the light-curing process.

Seamless design – monitored curing – high quality Brandenburger combines expertise in liner materials and UVA light technology under the same roof. Only the combination of these two components enables us to offer on-site high-quality curing. We offer qualified assistance to our partners to help them become experts at working with liner materials
Foil
An Essential Aid The internal and external foils used in the Brandenburger liner are styrene-proof and environmentally friendly. This keeps styrene emissions at a minimum. The external foil offers physical protection and is also UV-proof. This makes handling easy at the job site. The internal foil is removed after the Brandenburger liner has cured. Only the actual liner remains in the sewer.
Glass Fibre
Very high strength glass fibre Glass-fibre reinforced plastics (GFRP) have been used for decades wherever high strength, excellent chemical resilience and extreme durability are required of an industrial material. Since the 1940s, Brandenburger specialises in the processing of high-performance materials. The company has been using GFRP composite materials successfully in modern, trenchless sewer rehabilitation since the early 1990s. GFRP is a "programmable" material. The glass fibres may be aligned to precisely match the loads in the sewer. Pipe liners made of GFRP are capable of bearing extreme loads at very low wall thicknesses and weights. GFRP pipe liner is thus suitable for the rehabilitation of all commonly used sewer cross-sections - round, oval and special profiles - with small and large diameters. During the manufacturing of the Brandenburger GFRP pipe liner, glass fibre webs are immersed in special vinyl or polyester resin to strengthen the mechanical properties of the plastic. It is critical for the durability of the finished product that the composition of the resins matches perfectly with the type of glass in order to withstand the chemical and mechanical loads. This is why only high-grade resins (polyester resin pursuant to DIN 18820 group 3 type 1140, or EN 13121 group 4, or vinylester resins pursuant to DIN 18820 group 5 type 1310, or EN 13121 group 7A) and corrosion-resistant E-CR glass fibre are used for Brandenburger GFRP pipe liners..
Resins
Chemical resistance by 2-step resin system For public sewer systems, generally group 3 resins in acc. with DIN 18 820 T1 and/or according to EN 13121 in group 4) are used. For aggressive industrial applications, such as those involving alkaline solutions and/or high temperatures, the GRP composite is impregnated with a special vinylester resin. This resin corresponds to group 5 in accordance with DIN 18 820 T1 (and/or to group 7 in accordance with EN 13121). As glass fibre quality ECR glass fibre (e.g. Advantex) is used. This makes it possible to realize a suitable rehabilitation concept for all types of sewage
UVA light-curing
Innovative UVA light-curing technology The quality of an installed GRP inliner depends strongly on the applied curing technology. Knowing this, Brandenburger founded its UV Reline.tec subsidiary in 1997, an engineering company specialising in UVA design. Uniform Curing In the 1990s, Brandenburger's UVA light technology made an optimised and controlled light curing process possible for the first time. The entire process is controlled electronically and optically using TV cameras. In 2006, Brandenburger launched a completely new, advanced UVA light-curing technology under the BLUETEC® brand name. Keyword: Combination Curing Even with GFRP pipe liners, stress analyses for larger oval profiles or mechanically demanding conditions often require wall thicknesses greater than 10 mm. For these rehabilitation cases Brandenburger has developed the so-called "combination curing". For this the light-curing resins are mixed with a small amount of heat-curing peroxides. The curing process is done by the combination of light and heat curing, but without separate heat application in the form of steam or hot water. The exothermic reaction induces the intended heat curing in addition to the light curing and reliably cures the laminated liner even at greater wall thickness. Using the Brandenburger combination curing, rehabilitations can be carried out regardless of the necessary wall thickness. The curing speeds are similarly fast even for this procedure. Background Information on Light Technology UVA light curing has generally been applied industrially for over 30 years, for instance for curing paints in the automobile industry. This curing technology has also been used for sewer rehabilitation since the end of the 1980s. In the light-curing procedure, the resin to be cured (UP or VE resin) is exposed to light of a specific wavelength (360–420 nm). Special light initiators in the resins ensure that the intended reaction occurs. In the resins being used, UV light can only induce polymerisation when free radicals are present. Exposure to UVA-light causes the “photoinitiator molecules” to decompose into the radicals that are required for the polymerisation process. These induce polymerisation by interlinking with the styrols contained in the resin making a high-strength composite material.
