Stora Enso has now shown off its latest investment to the world after opening a modern sawmill in Murow, Poland. Thought to have cost around €28 million, the company were aiming to increase the capacity of the mill in order to improve the competitiveness of the company as a whole.
Thanks to excellent infrastructure and highly-qualified, experienced staff, Stora Enso has been allowed to run efficiently in recent years and this has been helped along by the fact that they are located close to their market as well as raw materials. With the expansion, the sawmill can now process 400,000 m3 per year as opposed to the 70,000 m3 they were restricted to previously. In terms of the raw materials themselves, the mill currently looks to utilise spruce and pine from the forests that surround them.
Currently, both the PEFC Chain of Custody and FSCTM allow the mill’s wood to be traced.
