Based in Belarus, Verhnedvinsky forestry enterprise has announced that they will be utilising a new sawing line to produce larger logs. Before the change which came in response of a sawing line from Mebor in Slovenia, the previous diameter of logs was between 14-24cm. As well as sawn timber for the construction industry, they also contribute to the production of furniture.
Originally, the purchase of the sawing line came in 2015 as part of the Vitdrevmebel regional program as the region aims to improve growth from now until 2020. In addition to various solutions for the enterprise, Mebor also supplied high speed edgers.
According to the information that was released, 2016 is a big year for the company having increased output back in April. Thanks to the expansion, sawn timber production is set to increase to up to 250,000 cubic metres of each month with six workers operating in two shifts. In terms of investment, the total figure is thought to be around €75,000 and the return is expected within just three years. Just recently, the company enjoyed an increase in revenues by €10,000 with a high percentage of products joining the export market. Within the market, the Baltic States seem to be the main buyers.
In the new sawing line, there is a log supplying system, fully automatic single arbor multi rip saw, two fully automatic double arbor multi rip saws, horizontal band saw, sorting line (cross cutting), stacking machine, three automatic edgers, equipment for the maintenance of blades, and waste management systems. As the company now has circular and band saws for the smaller logs, they can now be more flexible and productive. For the new line of larger logs, just one operator is required.
Currently, AS Uuemoisa Teenus is owned by the municipality of Ridala in Estonia but this is all about to change thanks to an offer for the full company by AS Tootsi Turvas. According to reports, 8 GWh is the current level of heating sales of the company being purchased which has recently been completed renovated. For fuel, the plant is known for sourcing local wood and peat.
After being founded in 1919, Tootsi Turvas produces energy peat, wood fuels, heating, and agricultural peat. Over time, they have built up a solid reputation and have eight plants as a result as well as five district heating networks within the country. As a subsidiary of Vapo Oy, the parent company and Valio recently signed a production of heat and steam for the dairy of Valio in Finland which is set to cover around twelve years.
