Over the years, the EBRD has supported Belarus in a number of ventures and now they are contributing to the wood processing and furniture industry by providing ZAO Holding Company Pinskdrev with a loan of around $15 million. As the country’s largest wood processing and furniture group, the company will use the funds to increase energy efficiency, improve their impact on the environment, and modernise production lines. Upon completion, they will be allowed to become more competitive by reducing unit production costs.
Currently, the business is already known for recycling wood waste that is created by their manufacturing processes which, in turn, produces steam and heat. Thanks to the EBRD loan, which was signed in Minsk, new metering and monitoring systems can be introduced to control energy usage. Furthermore, the EBRD will be carrying out an energy audit in order to try and find other methods of saving energy at the location.
