Ukrainian pet food leader Kormotech is set to upscale its operations in Kėdainiai, Lithuania. Following its initial success and exceeding employment expectations, the company plans to bring on an additional 200 specialists and invest over €60 million across four production phases set to be operational between 2025 and 2028.
Kormotech initially stepped into the Lithuanian market in 2020 with a 4500 sq. m. facility in the Kėdainiai Free Economic Zone (FEZ). Originally intending to employ 70 individuals, the company swiftly expanded to over 170 specialists. The upcoming expansion is poised to double Kormotech's current workforce in Kėdainiai within the next five years.
Rostyslav Vovk, CEO and co-owner of Kormotech, outlined the plans for the new expansion phases by 2028. Andrii Berezyuk, Director of Kormotech UAB, highlighted the company's achievements in production and sales in Lithuania, attributing success to factors like efficient construction, favorable FEZ conditions, support from Invest Lithuania, and strong partnerships and supply networks.
Founded in 2003, Kormotech specializes in producing wet and dry pet foods. The Kėdainiai plant, focusing on wet food production, boasts high automation levels and a current annual capacity of 20,000 tons. The expansion will see the launch of the first new production line by 2025, with a total of four lines operational by 2028. The company is actively seeking skilled engineers, food technologists, and other professionals.
Headquartered in Lviv, Kormotech has a global workforce exceeding 1,200 and is recognized as a top domestic employer in Ukraine. The company is also committed to various social projects, promoting animal welfare, advancing veterinary medicine in Ukraine, and supporting shelters. Notably, in 2022, Kormotech initiated the Save Pets of Ukraine project, providing vital assistance to pets affected by the Russian invasion, including food, shelter supplies, and medical aid.
Elijus Čivilis, General Manager of Invest Lithuania, noted that Kormotech’s decision to expand signifies the attractive business environment in Lithuania’s regions, highlighting the high-quality local business infrastructure and talent pool.
