After starting construction back in 2015, Latvijas Finieris has announced that their impregnation plant has been completed in Riga, Latvia. Employing modern technology that is more efficient for the environment, the company will be producing impregnated paper but with a higher added value.
Thanks to a €10 million investment, the production capacity at the location has now doubled and the additional process will require just twelve members of staff who operate in three shifts. On a wider scale, more sophisticated products will be made and the end products will be exported to other countries such as Estonia but also used in other factories across Latvia.
For maximum performance and efficiency, the impregnation plant has been kitted out with some of the most modern technology on the planet which will allow the company to push forward and remain competitive. Instead of being released, the processed gases are captured and burned. Equipped with a heat exchanger, these gases can then contribute to the paper drying process which makes the equipment environmentally-friendly.
Because it is part of the public investment project, the new impregnation line will allow the company to receive tax credit once it is up and running. Of the €10 million investment, this support is worth 10% and has allowed the project to go ahead in a timely manner whilst also meeting the needs of the business in terms of being friendly towards the environment.
CEO of Latvijas Finieris, Janis Ciems, has said “We are constantly working on an in-depth research of technology processes and finding innovative solutions to achieve our objectives in a sustainable way. This project is yet another example where environmental issues go hand in hand with business objectives, while also benefiting the society. This is evidenced by the newly created qualified jobs, increase in taxes paid and other important indicators for development of our country.”
