As of June 3rd, 2017, Croatia is undergoing a self-imposed ban for the transportation of oak logs. With Corythucha arcuata, an extremely dangerous organism, continuing to spread around the country, the government is hoping the ban will prevent even more spreading and help to get the situation under control. Although not confirmed, rumours suggest the ban will be in place for two years.
Currently, the affected wood species include Quercus petraea and Quercus robur and there is a restriction of any transfer of wood regardless of whether it has retained its bark surface.
