Ball Corporation, a global leader in aluminium packaging solutions, has unveiled its strategic plan to construct a new €170 million aluminium can plant in Czech Republic, marking its intent to amplify its production capacity in the EMEA region.
The company is scheduled to initiate construction of this advanced facility this spring, with operational commencement aimed for October 2022. Strategically located near Pilsen, in the western region of Czech Republic, the new plant is poised to create employment opportunities for up to 200 individuals. This development comes as a response to the escalating demand for aluminium beverage cans in the region.
Carey Causey, President of Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA, emphasized, “This innovative facility reaffirms our steadfast commitment to the Czech Republic.” He noted that the strategic location in the Pilsen region provides access to a skilled workforce and proximity to key customers, ensuring sustained benefits from advanced production processes, environmental commitment, and high-quality, sustainable beverage packaging.
The planned facility, encompassing over 100,000 square metres in the Pilsen Digital Park, will house two production lines, allowing scalability for future expansions. “We are integrating sophisticated automated equipment and the latest technologies to curtail environmental impacts, amplified by our recent pledge to power our European operations with 100% renewable energy,” said Gerhard Mayer, VP of Operations, Ball Beverage Packaging EMEA.
This announcement follows Ball’s recent revelation of its plans to enhance its beverage packaging capabilities in the US through the establishment of a new aluminium end manufacturing facility.
