AJU POLAND, a Korean-based enterprise, has announced plans to establish a steel products manufacturing unit in Bytyń, Poland. The Ministry of Development and Technology disclosed that the facility will focus on producing products from coated steel sheets. This strategic move places the factory within the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone, a mere 30 km from Wielkopolska's capital, Poznań.
This upcoming Polish factory marks AJU STEEL’s fourth global production hub, joining existing facilities in South Korea, China, and Mexico. With an inauguration slated for 2024, Poland's central position is anticipated to streamline the company's supply chains.
Do Yean Lee, AJU POLAND’s Chief Executive, described the diverse processes the new plant will undertake. He highlighted operations like sheet metal cutting, stamping, grinding, polishing, and coating - including color applications - to achieve innovative designs and finishes.
Highlighting the significance of this foreign investment during the foundation stone ceremony, Deputy Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak underscored Poland's appeal as a hub for contemporary industry and international investments.
The upcoming manufacturing unit is a component of the broader Polish Investment Zone. A significant draw for investors has been the potential for tax benefits, contingent upon alignment with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.
Magdalena Hilszer, the Vice-President of the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone, emphasized the mandatory criteria for availing tax incentives. She outlined that AJU POLAND must demonstrate eco-friendly operations, foster employee and community education, and uphold robust employee welfare measures.
