TATRA TRUCKS, a renowned Czech manufacturer of trucks, military, and specialty vehicles based in Koprivnice, Moravian-Silesian Region, is making significant strides in innovation and production. The company showcased its groundbreaking hydrogen truck prototype, the Tatra Force e-Drive, on October 23rd at the H2 Forum 2023 conference.
Under the leadership of its new CEO, Lukas Andrysek, TATRA TRUCKS is undergoing transformative changes. Andrysek, who has previously demonstrated his management prowess at DAKO-CZ, a.s. – a leader in braking systems for rail vehicles – aims to double the company’s output to 2,500 vehicles annually while maintaining a diverse model range.
The company is streamlining processes, adjusting priorities, and reorganizing production to increase efficiency. A key strategy involves splitting the factory into two sections: one for maximum serial production and the other for specialized vehicle production. Amidst these changes, TATRA TRUCKS is also pioneering in the field of sustainable transportation with its hydrogen truck prototype.
This initiative has garnered attention at the highest levels, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen highlighting it as a prime example of green technology from the Czech Republic at the Green Deal Summit in Prague. The prototype is set to evolve into a production model of a 45-tonne truck capable of reaching speeds up to 85 km/h. A standout feature of this hydrogen-powered vehicle is the quick refueling time, offering a significant advantage over the lengthy charging periods required for electric vehicles.
