According to the CEE Private Equity Statistics report via Invest Europe, private equity firms have invested nearly 3 billion euros into companies in the region. This figure represents a 7% year-on-year increase and signifies a commitment to start-ups, SMEs, and a fast-improving venture capitalist environment.
Last year, over 450 CEE companies received investment from private equity firms, representing a 10% increase from 2018 and setting a new record for the region. Along with this increase in venture capitalism comes an increase in fundraising, including money raised via VC funds, growth funds, and Buyout funds.
According to Eric de Montgolfier, the current CEO of Invest Europe, the CEE still has a long way to "grow." In his mind, venture capital and private equity are not just supporting business expansion and innovation, but job creation as well. Looking at this view country by country, Estonia is the largest recipient of funds, followed by Poland and Romania, respectively.
