Ford is maintaining its plans for the Craiova plant and is working on ensuring the infrastructure needed in order to produce 300 000 cars, Dionisio Campos, the president of Ford Romania, stated yesterday, Agerpres informs.
All the sections of the Craiova plant will become operational at the end of the first quarter of 2010 when the effective production of the Transit Connect vehicle is also set to start. ‘We all know the economic situation, the effects of the economic crisis, effects that are felt in all sectors. The reality is that we are sticking with the plan with which we came to Craiova. We’ve launched the first vehicle. We are registering progress in ensuring the infrastructure needed in order to produce the 300 000 cars. The forecast for next year is placed in doubt in the sense that we don’t know how the market will evolve,’ the president of Ford Romania stated. Prime Minister Emil Boc met John Fleming, the president of Ford Europe, yesterday within the Victoria Palace. The Prime Minister announced that the Government will offer Ford a state guarantee of EUR 320 mln, representing 80 per cent of the loan that the company will contract from the European Investment Bank. During the meeting the Prime Minister stated that the Government will continue to support Romanian companies and foreign companies that invest in Romania so that they could overcome the economic crisis.
