Prairie Mining, originally from Australia, has been active in Poland for some time thanks to ‘PD Co’ but they now risk losing an important project. However, Ben Stoikovich, CEO, has now said the company is ready to fight and will seek a large compensation package in international court if the project is taken from their hands.
Based in the Lubelskie region, it’s the Jan Karski mine currently in its early stages that seems to be causing issues. So far, the Australian company has invested PLN 60 million with another PLN 45 million on the way for a production license. However, not everybody has been impressed with the Environment Ministry questioning the slow progress. According to Stoikovich, the company will show their feasibility study towards the end of this year before then applying for the license.
For the company and for Poland, progress is important considering another Prairie site is already being planned for the Slaskie region; this is due to cost PLN 4 billion
