India and the Czech Republic, during the Vibrant Gujarat summit, have formalized a strategic partnership agreement, signaling a new era in their collaborative relationship, especially in the realm of innovation.
This bilateral cooperation agreement between India and the Czech Republic focuses on fostering growth in innovative sectors and intensifying professional and business partnerships. Both nations are committed to enhancing their mutual ties, exploring the untapped potential in innovation, and initiating joint business ventures and projects.
Post discussions between Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's foreign ministry issued a joint statement. The statement highlighted the partnership's focus on areas such as startups, innovation, cybersecurity, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, defense, nuclear energy, and the circular economy, among other shared interests.
Historically, India has been a pivotal and longstanding partner for the Czech Republic in Central Europe, with diplomatic ties dating back to 1920. The Czech government, in its strategy regarding cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region announced in September 2022, identified India as a critical partner. This strategy emphasizes deepening relations with democratic partners in the region, reaffirming India's significant role.
