During a recent meeting in Munich with Milan Nedeljkovic, BMW’s board member responsible for production, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó received positive updates on BMW's new plant in Debrecen, Hungary. This meeting, as reported by state news agency MTI, highlighted the ongoing construction and recruitment efforts at the plant.
Minister Szijjártó noted that Eastern Hungary is emerging as a pivotal center for the European automotive industry, bolstered by the development of BMW's facility. The groundbreaking for this vehicle manufacturing plant, which took place in the summer of 2022, marked the beginning of a significant phase in the region's industrial growth.
Set to commence production in 2025, the Debrecen plant will focus on manufacturing the fully electric Neue Klasse model, showcasing BMW's commitment to innovative and sustainable vehicle production.
In addition to his engagement with BMW executives, Minister Szijjártó also held discussions with Bavaria's Economy Minister Hubert Aiwanger during his time in Munich, further emphasizing the strengthening economic ties between Hungary and Germany.
