DHL Group has inaugurated a state-of-the-art sorting and distribution hub in Poland, capable of processing up to a million parcels each day. Situated near Poznan, this facility represents a collaborative effort involving DHL eCommerce, Post & Parcel Germany, and DHL Freight, aiming to enhance delivery speeds for consumers.
The hub, which involved an investment of approximately 180 million Euros, covers 32,000 square meters and is equipped with 3,000 meters of conveyor belts, boasting a sorting capability of up to 45,000 parcels per hour. Moreover, it includes a DHL Freight terminal specifically for managing palletized goods and cargo less than a container load for both Polish and broader European clientele. With about 500 staff members, this facility stands as one of the continent's foremost parcel sorting and logistics centers.
Tobias Meyer, DHL Group's CEO, stated, “This technologically advanced facility will elevate our service quality across Europe, shortening delivery times notably between Germany and Poland and reaffirming our dedication to offering dependable, swift cross-border shipping solutions.”
The hub is not only pivotal for international e-commerce and domestic Polish deliveries but will also process shipments for Post & Parcel in Germany, covering both incoming and return parcels. It boasts direct transportation links to all major parcel hubs in Germany, Poland, and several other European nations, ensuring efficient and integrated logistics operations.
