Thanks to a recent announcement, we now know that a whopping €7 million will be invested by the ULK Group in order to purchase a lumber sorting and packaging plant; also, an Archangelsk sawmill will be included in the plan with progressive kilns. With an order already being processed with Heinola Sawmill Machinery, the plan is now well under way with a delivery expected some time in the early summer of 2017.
In the dry lumber sorting plant, automatic camera sorting technology will be installed along with many other pieces of high-quality equipment. For stepless cutting sizes, cut-off saws will be utilised whilst using 50 different sorting bins. Overall, around 180 pieces per minute will be processed which means that around 400,000 cubic metres of lumber can pass through each and every year. Up until 2020, the ULK Group has plans to invest up to $200 million.
