Brisk Tabor, Czech producer of spark plugs, has enjoyed good success in Russia in recent months and has even been highlighted as a focal point within a troubled Czech-Russian relationship. Since the EU sanctions on Russia and the fall of the Ruble’s value, business between the two countries has faltered. When Brisk Tabor announced that they would be investing in Togliatti in Samara, it was a breath of fresh air between the two.
After the construction is finished, Brisk’s capacity should boost almost double from five to nine million each and every year. In preparation, the company has already introduced the new production line and it has been running for three months. Upon completion, the spark plugs will be available for local producers and Avtovaz is set to see the benefit immediately; they manufacture over a quarter of a million cars per year. In addition to Avtovaz, others such as Renault, Nissan, and Lada will also have access to the product.
Although they are just expanding now, Brisk has actually been in the Russian market for over 20 years and the Czech Minister for Industry and Trade has noted how they should be seen as an example for other Czech companies who are thinking about taking the jump. Whether it is investment or launching in the country, Jan Mladek wants the Samara region to become a hub of Czech business activity.
Back to Brisk, they have already announced a widening of production in terms of sensors for cars too. However, there is still a long way to go as Russian production is still ten times smaller than the production seen in the Czech Republic.
