AutoWallis, the Hungary-based enterprise, has been appointed as the vehicle parts distribution partner for MG in 13 Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries, following an agreement with Saic Motor. This collaboration, as announced to the Budapest Business Journal, encompasses Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Albania, Greece, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo.
This alliance allows AutoWallis to fortify its international footprint, marking its debut in the Greek market. Under the terms of this partnership, AutoWallis's Distribution arm will oversee the delivery and storage of MG-branded parts across these nations, while Saic Motor CEE retains ownership of the components.
Andrew Prest, who leads AutoWallis’s Distribution Business Unit, emphasized the significance of this partnership. Beyond introducing a renowned brand to their portfolio, he highlighted it as a potential beacon for other brands eyeing the CEE region. For AutoWallis, this also marks an expansion into a new territory and amplifies its presence in vast markets like Poland. The collaboration is anticipated to yield mutual benefits, fostering synergies in wholesale operations and fueling profit growth for the distribution division. Prest further articulated that this move aligns seamlessly with AutoWallis's vision of prioritizing international growth.
Saic Motor Corp, headquartered in Shanghai, stands as China's premier automobile manufacturer. In 2022 alone, it recorded sales of 5.3 million vehicles across diverse brand names. By 2021, Saic Motor had emerged as the third-largest global electric vehicle manufacturer. Since 2007, it has been producing the iconic British brand of vehicles, making a triumphant return to the British market in 2011 with an ever-expanding model range. MG's introduction to continental Europe in 2019 was underpinned by a renewed commitment to democratizing electrified mobility for European consumers. The brand has witnessed a doubling in sales yearly since its revival.
Further cementing its commitment to the CEE region, Saic inaugurated its dedicated regional office in Budapest in 2022, dubbed SAIC Motor CEE. This unit has now embarked on this new venture, partnering with AutoWallis Distribution, aiming to facilitate growth and reinforce its business partner search in the region.
