For Leroy Merlin, they seem to have achieved their goal of becoming a worldwide DIY company. Included in this, they now have a presence in Romania after opening the first store in 2011. Ever since then, the Romanian consumers have welcomed the brand and, six years later, they have fifteen stores in the country.
However, they haven’t just introduced new stores as they’ve also taken over the BauMax chain from Austria. Although the first year wasn't as successful as hoped, it opened the door for more growth in Romania and through much of Europe. Just recently, a dozen of the Romanian stores were rebranded and it seems to have been a success for Leroy Merlin.
Elsewhere, the brand is also growing in Poland after Wroclaw welcomed their third store just recently close to the Galeria Handlowa Family Point shopping mall. At the site, they have 12,000 square metres of space where they hold over 40,000 products. Across Poland as a whole, Leroy Merlin now has 60 stores making their jump into the country, way back in 1994, a good decision.
