Mondi, a leader in sustainable packaging and paper solutions, has made a strategic investment in its Ružomberok paper mill located in Slovakia, part of Central Eastern Europe (CEE). This investment introduces cutting-edge slitting and rewinding equipment aimed at expanding the mill's capacity for narrow reels, thereby enhancing its product diversity.
This new addition not only increases Mondi's ability to produce narrow reels but also enriches its comprehensive portfolio of paper solutions. Bernhard Cantzler, Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper's Marketing and Sales Director, emphasized the importance of this expansion: "To ensure our customers have reliable access to the paper supplies they require, in both folio sizes and various reel widths, it was essential for us to augment our capabilities in producing narrow reels."
This development enables Mondi to better serve its clientele, particularly those in the professional printing and converting industries, by offering a wider array of products tailored to meet their specific needs.
Mondi's facility in Slovakia stands out for its commitment to sustainability, meeting rigorous environmental standards. The mill produces Mondi's uncoated fine paper brands, which are all Cradle to Cradle Certified™ at the Bronze level, ensuring that the products are safe, circular, and produced responsibly. Depending on the product, the papers may also feature the EU Ecolabel and adhere to PEFC and/or FSC™ chain of custody certifications.
Cantzler further highlighted Mondi's dedication to sustainability, stating, "Sustainability forms the essence of our operations. Through collaboration with our suppliers, customers, and partners, we aim to advance toward our shared vision of a fully circular economy. We achieve this by investing in environmentally efficient production assets and processes, sourcing our wood responsibly and verifying our compliance with rigorous standards and European regulations through independent certification bodies.
