Stora Enso invests in a new warp control system which will be installed at the company’s corrugated board plant in Ostroleka, Poland. The company placed an order for the system with the vendors Valmet, the system is worth about EUR 1 million, and it is expected to be delivered in spring, 2018.
The information gathered from the announcement indicates that the warp control system is based on the measurement of moisture which can be used to correct the warping of all corrugated board types and to improve the performance of corrugated board box plants. The system includes Valmet IQ Converting Scanners with moisture measurement tools, Valmet IQ Moisturiser, and the Valmet IQ Warp Measurement features which as integrated with the automatic MPC closed loop post controls. The moisture level of the final product plays an essential role in preventing corrugated post warping.
The Ostoleka Mill is located in Northeast Warsaw. It is a reliable source of board materials which are demanded by plants in Poland for the production of different kinds of packaging. The mill engages the services of over 1,000 people, and it has been in existence for about 50 years. The mill has also been a part of the Stora Enso since 2004. In the 4Q2017 Stora Enso’s operational ROCE was reported to have increased to 13.5%.
