HP Magyarország (Hungar) has sold 12% more portable computers and desktop in the first 2 quarters of 2010 then in the same period a year earlier.
HP sold 42% more portable computers during the period, double the growth on the market as a whole. The Hungarian market for desktop and portable computers contracted about 30% in volume terms in 2009. Portable computers account for three-fourths of all computers sold in Hungary.
HP Magyaroszág's revenue from the printer market rose about 30% in dollar terms in the business year ending October 31, said Gábor Miskei, who is in charge of the segment. The increase came from a low base, he added. The most difficult area in the segment is big companies, because they are afraid to make capital expenditures as a result of the crisis, but the retail printer market is growing, Miskei said.
