BERLIN — Wipro, India's third largest IT firm, announced plans to set up a research and service center in Wroclaw, Poland, to provide support to Switzerland-based client Credit Suisse.
The center is expected to employ 140 IT staff and will be jointly managed by Wipro and Credit Suisse. It will concentrate on transaction processing related to human resources.
Herald Stoehr, the head of HR at Credit Suisse and director of the center, told the Polish investment agency that WrocĹaw was chosen due to its strong academic base, which will facilitate recruitment of university graduates with language and IT skills.
Poland reported record foreign direct investment in 2007. The country received nearly $20.6B (13B Euros) in FDI, making it New Europe's top recipient, according to the national investment agency. The Czech Republic, New Europe’s second most popular investment location, pulled in $9.5 (6B Euros).
