Hornbach the 3rd largest DIY chain in Germany now has opened its 5th location in Slovakia.
The German DIY store operator Hornbach has opened its fifth store in the eastern neighbouring country of Slovakia. The location is in the city of Nitra in the west of the country and has a sales area of around 16 000 m². This also includes a drive-in covering around 5 000 m². Hornbach's DIY and garden product range in Slovakia currently comprises roughly 120 000 articles. With this latest opening, Hornbach now operates stores in five countries across CEE: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. This underlines the importance that DIY retail holds for the group going forward as it seeks to expand its international presence.
The company has invested approximately 21 million euros in the site, construction and fitting-out of the store. In Slovakia, Hornbach already operates two stores in the capital Bratislava and two in eastern Slovakia in the cities of Košice and Prešov. With this latest expansion, Hornbach now operates five stores throughout Slovakia. This investment will create around 100 new jobs in the country. Thanks to its "one-stop shop" concept, Hornbach offers customers everything they need for their home improvement projects under one roof. From planning to execution, customers can find all the products and services they need for DIY, building and home improvement.
In a recent announcement, Hornbach recorded overall sales growth of 7.7% for its financial year March 21 to February 22.
