Owner of E. Wedel will build sweets’ production factories in Ĺwidnica. Up to several hundred employees will be necessary. Ĺwidnica is among shareholders of WrocĹaw Agglomeration Development Agency. WSEZ Subzone in Ĺwidnica
The manufacturing facilities will be located within the WaĹbrzych Special Economic Zone “Invest-Park”. The plot bought by Lotte was the last large piece of land devoted to production in the subzone in Ĺwidnica.
‘It has taken 7 years of many people’s cooperation and commitment to develop the entire 100 hectares of land in our special economic zone. It is a significant accomplishment. Like with the past investments, we shall put all our effort to have this new factory built as soon as possible.’ reports Mr. Wojciech Murdzek, mayor of Ĺwidnica.
Several hundred people will find jobs in these factories. Currently, preparations are being made to finalize the purchase of land and draft a production profile together with prospective markets for sale of products.
Mr. Tomasz Gondek of WrocĹaw Agglomeration Development Agency emphasizes: ‘Lotte is a truly global brand and has done a really thorough analysis of the polish market before making the final decision to invest in Ĺwidnica. We are pleased by the prospect of hundreds new posts provided by this investment and the fact that Lotte intends to begin its European expansion from Ĺwidnica.’
In September 2010 Lotte Group acquired E. Wedel, the oldest chocolate market brand in our country. Lotte is an international business with annual income at about 35 billion dollars. It operates in multiple fields such as the foods and sweets sector, trade, tourism and transport sector, chemicals, construction industry and financial market.
In the list of world’s biggest sweets sector companies Lotte settled on the 6th place with operations on the Korean and Japanese markets, however present also in Belgium with the brand Guylian, in China, Russia and ASEAN countries. Lotte is the Asia’s largest and world’s third largest producer of chewing gums.
