Rheinmetall has formally launched its latest manufacturing unit in Zalaegerszeg, situated 215 km to the southwest of Budapest, as revealed in a recent announcement.
The establishment of this plant, dedicated to crafting the Lynx infantry combat vehicle, symbolizes a pivotal phase and reiterates the corporation's dedication to Hungary.
Armin Papperger, Rheinmetall AG's executive board chairman, stated, "Inaugurating our Zalaegerszeg facility showcases our firm's advancement and reflects our robust alliance with Hungary's government and military - our fellow EU ally and NATO member."
Rheinmetall is a key contributor to Hungary's "Zrínyi 2026" program, which is directed towards updating the nation's military arsenal with domestically manufactured, contemporary gear.
In line with this initiative, the Hungarian defense department has entered into a contract with Rheinmetall for the provision of both tracked and wheeled armored combat vehicles, along with related services.
Based in Zalaegerszeg, Rheinmetall Hungary Zrt. emphasizes the design and production of wheeled armored transports, predominantly the innovative Lynx infantry combat vehicle, tailored for the Hungarian armed forces.
