The Romanian authorities are channeling around €290 million, largely drawn from the European Union budget, towards the revamp and enlargement of the Black Sea's Constanta Port.
This decisive financial move stems from the rise in traffic demands coupled with regional instability due to the Ukraine conflict.
Proposed advancements encompass road enhancements, an upgrade of water and sewage systems, and power distribution infrastructure.
The main goal of this venture is to renovate and broaden the road and entry systems at the Constanta Port.
Staged Funding Plan
The initial phase will see nearly €145 million spent over three years to revamp current roads and to modernize and broaden the port's primary transport links.
In addition, the Romanian administration has set aside about €112 million to bolster the power distribution grid.
The funding sources combine non-repayable international funds from the Transport Programme (PT) and contributions from Romania’s Ministry of Transport.
With the ongoing investment, the total expenditure on the project surpasses €500 million, incorporating plans for a staged creation of a man-made island within the port's boundaries.
