German electronics manufacturer Limoss is reportedly preparing a major greenfield investment in Romania, with plans to build a new factory that could eventually employ up to 500 people, according to a report from Profit.ro. The proposed site is located in Ineu, Arad County, a region that recently lost its largest employer after automotive supplier Aptiv shut down operations.
Ineu’s mayor, CÄlin Abrudan, confirmed that the municipality has been notified of Limoss’ intentions. “We received the company’s plan and will proceed with putting the land up for auction,” Abrudan told Profit.ro, noting that the project outlines a long-term target of 500 employees.
Limoss has not yet issued an official statement regarding the investment timeline or project details.
The planned expansion aligns with the broader strategy of the PentaComb Group, Limoss’ parent company, which already operates production sites in Arad County. The group aims to strengthen Limoss’ presence in Europe by establishing a new manufacturing base in Romania.
Last December, PentaComb disclosed plans to acquire a 15,000 sqm plot within a former military site as part of its regional development push. Initial technical plans shared with local authorities describe a phased rollout:
-
Phase 1: A 3,000 sqm production hall, around 25 employees, and an initial investment of EUR 1.5 million.
-
Phase 2: Expansion to 12,000 sqm and approximately 100 employees, with further growth anticipated as operations scale.
If completed, the Ineu factory could become one of the most significant new industrial investments in Arad County, providing a much-needed economic boost after Aptiv’s departure.
