Kronospan has completed the acquisition of the ZG Timber sawmill in Sebeș, previously owned by the insolvent Ziegler Group, according to Economedia.ro. The deal ensures the continuation of operations at the major Romanian facility and safeguards the jobs of more than 500 employees currently working at the site.

In its announcement, Kronospan confirmed that, following regulatory approval, the Sebeș sawmill will be fully integrated into its Romanian operations.
“This acquisition strengthens Kronospan’s long-term commitment to Romania and demonstrates our confidence in the country’s industrial capabilities, even in a challenging economic climate,” the company stated.

Strategic Expansion of Kronospan’s Product Portfolio

As part of its ongoing growth and diversification strategy, Kronospan will incorporate the Sebeș sawmill’s timber output into its broader product offering. The new timber line complements the company's established production of:

• particleboard (PB)

• medium-density fibreboard (MDF)

• oriented strand board (OSB)

These products are already manufactured at Kronospan’s facilities in Sebeș and Brașov. The integration of the sawmill further strengthens the company’s position as a leading provider of sustainable wood processing solutions in Central and Eastern Europe.
