Following a successful development of its hypermarkets in Poland, Carrefour is now planning to rapidly develop a network of corner shops.
"This year we opened four hypermarkets, thanks to which their number increased to 82. We also established 10 corner stores called 5minut, thanks to which their total number reached 34. This format of outlets will be the one developing most rapidly. We analyze offers from new franchisees every two weeks. The number of those interested in opening stores under our brand is not low," said Jean Anthoine, new president of Carrefour Polska.
According to Arkadiusz SĹodkowski, president of consulting company Profit System, specializing in franchise networks, the brand has enormous marketing potential and thus it does not stand any lower chance on the market of smaller stores than existing players. He also added that apart from organic growth, Carrefour could grow in leaps thanks to acquisitions.
"I anticipate take overs, but they will mostly concern smaller chains," said Jean Anthoine.
