Regardless of the pace at which the domestic economy will develop next year, the problem of a growing debt and the budget deficit will remain. This was the main conclusion of the meeting GDP 2010, organized by the Business Centre Club. The problems for our economy can be smaller when GDP exceeds 4 percent, which is likely to take place in 2012 at the earliest.
According to economists participating in the debate, in H1 of next year economic growth will not be strong, but by the end of the year it should reach 3.5 percent. The average annual pace of growth should stand at 2.5 percent.
According to BPH chief economist Maja Goettig, this will still be a good result as compared to other countries. "The forecasts of the European Commission state that in the next two years we will be, after Slovakia and Estonia, the leaders in terms of the level of economic growth," she added.
