The local unit of the German engineering giant Bosch will commence the construction of a new transport R&D centre in Budapest this summer. The business daily Világgazdaság reported this news on Thursday. The centre will accommodate a 10,000 square meter test track that will be used for test driving vehicles.
Robert Bosch Kft. has a plan to complete the building of the Campus II centre in three years. The project is expected to occupy an area of 60,000 sq. Located close to its Budapest Development Centre in District 10 of the capital. This space is double the area of the facility which includes the relevant infrastructure development. According to a government decree, this project is acknowledged as having strategic importance to the national economy. The project is expected to improve regulatory advantages and the bureaucratic procedures.
While the cost of this investment or the number of new jobs that will be created was not revealed, Világgazdaság speculated that according to the plans aimed at doubling the current production capacities, when the R&D campus is fully functional in 2021, the Bosch Company could employ as many as 5,000 engineers.
