LONDON — Fast growing Taiwanese contract electronics manufacturer Foxconn is looking at potential sites for what would be its first plant in Europe, according to EMS industry website evertiq .
The site quotes Tomas Hruda, chief executive at the CzechInvest investment promotion agency, suggesting that Foxconn CZ is looking at the Czech Republic and other countries in the region to build a plant to make liquid-crystal display (LCD) screens for European markets.
Hruda believes a decision whether to go ahead with a plant — that would represent an investment of about $24 million — and its location, is expected within days. Reports suggest it could create about 2000 jobs.
