On the 19th of July Opel the car manufacturer which is owned by GM opened its new production facilities in Gliwice . Opel as invested over zĹ.400 million with grants of zl 16 million from the Polish Government in the Silesian plant. Opel employs 2500 people at the Giliwice factory and estimates that 700 new jobs will be created.
Opel plans to build the new Astra IV model, the plant will operate 24 hours and go from two to three shifts. The new jobs created at this factory mark a role reversal from the 500 jobs lost over a year ago and Gilwice factory is an important part of GM plans to turn the company around with in 2 years with its 5 year investment plan worth over € 11 billion euros. |
