The UK based meat packing business; Hilton Food Group has unveiled its plans to build a €6 million plant in Poland. This deal was confirmed after a five year supply agreement with Tesco was agreed.
It is expected that the commercial activities will commence in 2019. The new plant will be fitted with facilities to produce foods such as sandwiches, pizzas, ready meals, and soups.
Hilton will continue to be responsible for the supply of Tesco’s Central European stores with pre-packaged meat as a part of the five-year agreement.
Robert Watson, a chief executive at Hilton in his statement confirmed the recent developments, “We have had a long and successful history of working with Tesco, one of the world’s biggest retailers. This agreement is a remarkable opportunity to enter into the growing food segment of the market.
“We anticipate excellent results from our tested and trusted business model in these agreements which will be enhanced by our traditional flexible approach to meeting the local requirements. We will continue to explore more opportunities for geographical expansion.”
Matt Simister, the CEO at Tesco Central Europe also made comments regarding the developments, “I am delighted that we are extending our deep group-wide partnership with Hilton to bring new manufacturing investments and capability to Poland.”
“Our collective experience and expertise will introduce innovative, high-quality, fresh and convenient products to our customers in Central Europe.”
In 2016, Hilton recorded sales of £1.2 billion; the company currently employs about 3,000 people.
