Discover the ambitious plans of Iustin Paraschiv, the visionary owner of Carmistin, one of Romania's leading players in the agri-food market. With a strategic vision aligned with European policies for a shorter chain between producers and consumers, Paraschiv is set to invest an impressive EUR 250 million in an integrated business model centered around the renowned LaProvincia brand. This groundbreaking investment aims to revolutionize the industry and create a more efficient and sustainable approach to food production.
Building on his extensive experience gained at Ana and Cornel, a processed meat factory owned by his parents, Iustin Paraschiv established Carmistin in 2000. Today, the Carmistin Group stands as a key contributor to Romania's agri-food sector, producing over 32 million chickens, 10,000 cattle, and projecting a total of 650,000 pigs by the year's end. Paraschiv's remarkable leadership and strategic decisions have propelled Carmistin's growth, starting with the acquisition of the Oltchim agricultural platform in 2008, which marked the beginning of the company's integrated business development.
As part of the ambitious investment plan, a state-of-the-art chicken slaughterhouse, valued at approximately EUR 65 million, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023. This advanced facility will streamline the production process and ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Carmistin's expansion journey continued with significant investments in pig and cattle breeding, further solidifying their position as a major player in the market. In 2017, Iustin Paraschiv's strategic vision led to the acquisition of Avicola Târgu Jiu, catapulting the Carmistin Group to become one of Romania's largest poultry breeders and producers.
Cristina Popa, Carmistin's Deputy General Manager, explains the company's vision, stating, "Our goal is to shorten the food chain and add value to Romanian agriculture. This means establishing partnerships with local farmers, sourcing raw materials for feed mills from nearby areas, and providing feed for animals that can be slaughtered in close proximity. Through an integrated business model, we aim to create a more efficient and sustainable production chain."
The investment by Iustin Paraschiv and the development of an integrated business model for the LaProvincia brand signify a significant milestone for Carmistin and the Romanian agri-food industry as a whole. By championing a shorter production chain and fostering local partnerships, the company is paving the way for a more resilient and interconnected agricultural sector.
Stay tuned for updates on this groundbreaking investment as Carmistin continues to revolutionize the industry and reinforce its commitment to sustainable and efficient food production.
