Poland will get an additional €633 million from the EU for the period 2011-2013 as a reward for its strong economic performance.
European Union Budget Commissioner Janusz Lewandowski said the money will come from a special fund set up five years ago. It is designated for countries that exceed Brussels' expectations for economic growth.
The fund is made up of money left over from unused and returned funds from previous years.
Poland's share of the money from this scheme was expected to be minimal, but it is now the biggest beneficiary.
