As part of its new role as the European Union’s Climate bank the EIB has approved loans to help towns in Poland bring about planned energy efficiencies. This year heating distributors in Bydgoszcz and Lublin have been awarded loans to help bring about improvements to their networks. This includes substantial modernisation which will increase air quality and reduce energy waste.
Komunalne PrzedsiÄbiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej sp. z o.o. - KPEC Bydgoszcz’s district heating operator will receive around €23.2million (PLN 100million) to upgrade both their energy generation and their heating network. This will also bring benefits to neighbouring areas such as Solec Kujawski, NakĹo nad NoteciÄ
, Szubin, and Koronowo. Lubelskie PrzedsiÄbiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej SA – LPEC. The district heating operator in Lublin will receive the same sum in order to fully upgrade their own heating network. The EIB finance represents 50% of the total project costs.
