Arburg, a leading manufacturer of injection molding machines, has strengthened its footprint in Southeastern Europe by opening a new subsidiary in Bucharest, Romania. This move highlights the company’s commitment to the rapidly growing economic region and aims to better serve its Romanian and international customers.
The new Bucharest unit is under the leadership of Interim Managing Director Daniel Orel, who also oversees Arburg's subsidiaries in Czechia and Slovakia. The decision to establish this subsidiary came after Arburg's long-time trading partner, with whom they had collaborated since 2000, chose to close its operations rather than transition them to Arburg. To ensure continuity of service and support, Arburg absorbed most of the existing service technicians into the new subsidiary, starting with a team of 11 employees in Bucharest.
Arburg has observed an increasing trend of companies installing advanced systems in Romania, with global corporations relocating entire production lines to the country. Given Romania's size and the complexity of its market, Arburg plans to maintain a decentralized service organization to effectively meet customer needs.
The automotive industry remains the dominant market in Romania, complemented by growing sectors in electronics, construction, packaging, and household goods. Historically reliant on hydraulic machines, the Romanian market is now shifting towards electric machines, with a rising demand for robotic systems and automation. Arburg's key customers, primarily large and medium-sized German and international firms, are predominantly located in Transylvania, in the northwest region of the Carpathian Mountains.
With the opening of its new Romanian subsidiary, Arburg now operates independent subsidiaries in 37 locations across 27 countries and maintains trading partnerships in over 100 countries worldwide. This expansion reinforces Arburg’s global strategy and its dedication to supporting the evolving needs of the manufacturing industry in Romania and beyond.
