Merritt guillotine style clipper with sine-wave motion for smooth, efficient shearing action automatically clips stacks of hardwood face and back veneer to proper widths for splicing. Automatic mode with laser line to indicate the desired position on veneer, such as adjacent to defects and knots, etc. Clipping is exactly on each registered laser line point, or component sizes can be clipped to maximize veneer yield or dollar value according to grade, based on computerized optimization. In operation worldwide on all makes of slicers, the Merritt vacuum flitch table is a proven system for attaching veneer flitches to the vertical slicer with vacuum instead of mechanical clamps.
