Norwegian renewable energy leader, Statkraft, has opened a new office in Croatia, marking a significant step in the company's expansion into the region. Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable electricity producer, has been active in Croatia since 2021 and sees great potential for growth in the country. At the office’s opening, Arnaud Bellanger, Statkraft’s director for Croatia, and Simen Bræin, senior vice president for European region 3, highlighted the company’s vision and strategic goals for the Croatian market.
With over 6,000 employees across more than 20 countries, Statkraft has a long-standing reputation, having been founded in 1895. In Croatia, the company is currently developing over 750 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity, complementing its broader portfolio of renewable energy operations, including hydro-power, wind power, gas power, and district heating services.
Statkraft's ambitious plans in Croatia were further bolstered by its recent acquisition of Neoen’s Croatian operations and projects. This acquisition enhances the company’s ability to expand its renewable energy infrastructure and contribute to Croatia’s green energy transition.
This development reflects Croatia’s growing role in the European renewable energy sector, providing new opportunities for local partnerships and collaboration in sustainable energy projects.
