The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is extending a €10 million loan to Garanti BBVA Leasing Romania, a mid-sized finance lease provider focused on supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This loan aims to enhance SMEs' access to leasing finance and strengthen their resilience.

Financing for Growth and Sustainability

Garanti BBVA Leasing will use the loan to finance new leases for SMEs, enabling them to acquire essential equipment and vehicles. Notably, more than 70% of the benefiting firms are located outside Bucharest, emphasizing the program's regional impact. Additionally, at least 30% of the loan proceeds will be allocated to financing green assets, aligning with EBRD’s Green Economy Transition standards and supporting climate change mitigation efforts.

Victoria Zinchuk, EBRD Head of Romania, expressed satisfaction with the expanded cooperation: "I’m pleased to expand our collaboration with Garanti BBVA Leasing. In 2023, the EBRD invested €658 million in Romania. Since commencing operations in Romania in 1993, the EBRD has committed nearly €11 billion to 525 projects, with 81% of this investment directed towards the private sector.
