Ford Otosan has inaugurated a state-of-the-art battery assembly line at its Craiova plant in Romania, marking a significant milestone in the company's electrification strategy. Spanning over 4,000 square meters, this facility is seamlessly integrated into existing manufacturing processes to support the production of electric models.
The assembly line is set to commence operations by the end of 2024, focusing on the electric variants of the Ford Puma and Ford Courier (Transit and Tourneo). This initiative is part of a €490 million investment announced in 2022, aimed at enhancing Ford's electric vehicle offerings in Europe.
Fırat Elhüseyni, President of Ford Otosan Romania, stated, "The first deliveries are expected in the spring of 2025. The electric models that our plant will soon produce will complement the current range of Ford models, playing a key role in the company's electrification strategy at the European level."
Currently, the Craiova facility manufactures combustion engine versions of the Ford Transit Courier, Tourneo Courier, and Puma models, with the latter being one of Ford's top-selling vehicles in Europe.
This development underscores Ford Otosan's commitment to advancing electric mobility and meeting the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions in the European market.
