Provisions have been made under the EBRD Green Cities framework (GrCF) for the inclusion of Bulgaria in the project. Sofia is expected to benefit from this arrangement by gaining technical assistance in preparation of the Green City Action Plan (GCAP). The municipal authorities and experts in Sofia have received notifications for the commencements of meetings in view of identifying the environmental challenges and incorporating the solutions during the project execution.

The meetings will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, it will be a one0day workshop during which EBRD and the municipal authorities will discuss the priorities of the project under the bank’s Green Cities Framework (GrCF) which is aimed at discovering ways to invest in greener transport options, water and waste management and the improvement of the urban environment to improve the lives of residents in the communities. Among the goals are developing a business model to achieve a green urban development, combining strategic planning with investments and the provision of associated technical assistance. Currently, right projects have been outlined for the total project which is valued at EUR 170 million. The Green City Action Plan (GCAP) for Sofia is the fifth of such ventures to be organized under this framework.
