WEIMA Shredders is committed to promoting a global future that prioritizes resource conservation with its "Destroy Responsibly" vision, which emphasizes the importance of circular economies that focus on the proper disposal and recycling of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste. WEIMA has partnered with Romanian company Expert Recycling to achieve the Zero Waste goal in Romania. Expert Recycling is utilizing a WEIMA W5.18 shredder, which processes PET, PP, PS, PE, DHPE, and PELD material streams on a daily basis, to support a society that is focused on sustainability with state-of-the-art technology.
Expert Recycling relies on shredding technology from WEIMA in Germany for its ambitious goals, which is distributed by Romanian dealer Chorus Engineering from Bucharest and co-financed by European Union funds. The WEIMA W5.18 plastic shredder is used to process a wide range of films and packaging in the first step of the recycling process, which results in a homogeneous flake size that is ideal for further processing.
The WEIMA shredder is the central component of the recycling line, with a working width of approximately 1,800 mm and a rotor diameter of approximately 500 mm. It is driven directly by a Hägglunds Bosch Rexroth hydraulic power drive train, which allows for consistently high throughput rates to be achieved without the need for a gearbox or frequency converter. The drive is highly robust against foreign objects and features variably adjustable rotor speeds with constantly high torque, even under full load.
Expert Recycling collects or purchases post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste from various partners, and all of its products, including granules, household waste bags, and films, are made from 100 percent recycled material and comply with all EU regulations, including CE marking, for full transparency in national and international markets. The company has a comprehensive technology park for end-to-end recycling, which includes sorting, separating, washing, shredding, baling, and extruding.
